The City & Guilds Commendations platform has been created to reward and recognise the hard work of Learners and Centres alike. Commendations is designed to bridge the gap between Medals of Excellence and The Lion Awards, both of which we have also worked on and developed identities for.
Our idea behind the look and feel is to show the concept of uncovering hidden talent, this is expressed through copy and the fold device that further emphasises this. We have created an identity that is bold and impactful, but also flexible and adaptable to allow colleges and centres to incorporate it into their own guidelines.

Last week saw the presentation of the 2014 Lion Awards at the Roundhouse Camden. For over 100 years, City & Guilds have run the annual Medals for Excellence programme to recognise success amongst learners and tutors. This culminates in the Lion Awards – City & Guilds’ most prestigious awards ceremony, acknowledging the best of the best. We worked with City & Guilds, and event agency Ballistic, to deliver the identity and branding for the 4th consecutive year.
We recently created this voting website for City & Guilds Medal for Excellence programme, including photography, design and Art Direction, with coding and build taken care of by VU.
Our new advertising campaign for City & Guilds clearly positions them for what they do best – training and educating people with skills to get a job, rather than university debt.
The website for this years Lion awards is now up and running. LimitedEditionDesign took care of the design and art direction, whilst Activepixels took care of the build. A simple clean design that hides some ruthless coding that allows applicants to upload and personalise content, cast votes and more.
